Normandie Express

High speed ferry to France

Normandie Express is a high-speed aluminium twin hulled catamaran capable of carrying passengers, cars, bikes and small vans at a maximum speed of 42 Knots (about 78 kilometres per hour).

On board you have space to relax and freedom to walk around this High Speed Ferry. For the short ferry crossing to France you will find comfortable seating, bars, café and a boutique making it an enjoyable alternative to air travel.

The vessel originally operated on the Cook Strait in New Zealand under the name 'The Lynx.' Brittany Ferries announced it would charter the vessel and rename her 'Normandie Express' for her new role on the routes between Portsmouth to Cherbourg and Portsmouth to Caen. She departed to France on the 21st January 2005.

After two years of service and proving extremely popular with her short crossing times; Brittany Ferries announced the purchase of the vessel on 15th January 2007. The vessel operates a seasonal service, typically between mid May and mid September. Crossing times average just 180 minutes to Cherbourg. Normandie Express runs a return trip to Cherbourg each day.

In 2013 she will be operating from Portsmouth to Cherbourg with a daily return service, along with an additional return crossing from Portsmouth to Le Havre between Thursdays and Sundays.

Please note: Normandie Express operates a no-smoking policy throughout the vessel at all times
