Brittany Ferries plans improved Poole-Cherbourg Services for 2006

Brittany Ferries has announced that it will be boosting passenger services out of Poole next summer with up to 6 crossings a day using Barfleur, supplemented by a high speed ferry during the peak season. This marks a return to pre-2005 schedules, with Barfleur dedicated to the Poole-Cherbourg route.

The operation during this coming winter, however, will see a short-term reduction in passenger services from 11 November to 22 January when Barfleur will carry freight only up until 2 January, after which she will go into dry dock for a major refit prior to resuming passenger services on 23 January.

Steve Warner, General Manager Poole, commented: “Whilst we acknowledge that the absence of passenger services out of Poole for a few weeks will inconvenience some people, it is at a time of the year when we carry very few passengers anyway. Fortunately, any inconvenience will be minimised by the fact that Brittany Ferries will have up to two crossings a day from Portsmouth, barely an hour’s drive away, to Cherbourg during this period. Of much greater significance is the improved service for summer 2006 when we carry the vast majority of our passengers, news, no doubt, that will be welcomed by everyone.”

Brittany Ferries also has services from Portsmouth to Caen, St Malo, and Cherbourg and from Plymouth to Roscoff and Santander in Northern Spain. For further details, prices and reservations, contact Brittany Ferries on 08705 360360 or visit www.brittanyferries.com.
