Leave your car at Plymouth and join us for a fully-escorted walking holiday through some of Europe’s most spectacular mountain scenery.

You will be met by your driver at the ferry in Santander, northern Spain and taken to your first hotel. Each day you spend 4 or 5 hours walking with an experienced guide on the old trails through the Picos de Europa National Park.

Walking equipment

There’s nothing too strenuous if you are used to walking - all you need are good boots suitable for mountain terrain, walking poles and sufficient clothes for a climate that can be changeable at any time of the year. Your luggage is taken from hotel to hotel, and a picnic lunch is provided each day. Also, if by any chance you don’t want to walk one day, you can stay behind and relax at the hotel.

Hotel accommodation

All bedrooms have a bathroom in the comfortable 2 & 3-star hotels and delicious regional dishes are served in the evening. On the last day, you’re taken back to Santander refreshed and ready for a relaxing cruise home!

Guided walking holiday itinerary

Picos de Europa 7 night itinerary

Monday Drive to Potes where you stay for 2 nights, and meet with guide before dinner.
Tuesday Drive to Fuente Dé, walk around Aliva towards Mogrovejo. Take the cable car to Cabaña Veronica if the weather is good.
Wednesday Drive to Remoña and walk the mountain pass to Posada de Valdeón and sleep overnight.
Thursday Depart for Cain, visit a wolf trap and walk beside the Cares Gorge. From Puente Poncebos, drive to Arenas de Cabrales for dinner and stay here for 2 nights.
Friday Walk to Bulnes and come back down by train (no cars can reach this village!).
Saturday From Arenas drive to the Covadonga lakes, walk around them and then visit the monastery. Drive to Cosgaya near Potes for a 2 night stay.
Sunday Walk from Sotres to Bejes along the old mining tracks. Drive back to Cosgaya.
Monday After breakfast leave for Santander and the return cruise to UK.

This tour itinerary may change subject to weather conditions and hotel availability. It is also not suitable for youngsters unless physically fit. The hotels are selected and booked by the company who plan and accompany this tour and we regret we cannot supply any further details prior to your arrival.

This walking tour only commences on the dates above. It needs a minimum number of 4 guests to operate, and may be cancelled if under-subscribed - we will inform you prior to full payment. For groups of 6 or more other dates are possible on request.
