Spring Savings of almost a third off on Portsmouth-Cherbourg!
Special promotional fares introduced
Brittany Ferries has launched a range of very special fares this spring with savings of up to 32% on previously available fares on the Portsmouth to Cherbourg route. This means that a one way fare for a car and 2 passengers is now from only £65 for a stay of up to 5 days in France and for an unlimited stay the equivalent fare is from only £95.
These new low fares are valid until the end of May and can be used on the high-speed Normandie Express, which re-commences service on 30 March. With a crossing time of only 3 hours, this service provides a quick, comfortable and economical way of getting to France.
Availability of these promotional fares is limited so you are advised to book early.
Cherbourg is a great place to visit in its own right, having a number of attractions:
• Cité de la Mer, a fantastic aquarium housed in the restored trans-Atlantic terminal. Visitors can explore an ocean diving area and a former nuclear submarine.
• Fort du Roule, which provides a commanding view of the port. This also houses the Musée de la Libération, commemorating D-Day and the liberation of Cherbourg in the Second World War.
• Shopping. The lively Cherbourg market is held in front of the theatre every Tuesday and Sunday morning. For those wanting to stock up, there are also several hypermarkets on the edge of town.
• The Ravalet Château in Tourlaville is a wonderful example of the Renaissance style. Nestled in a small valley, the Château is set in a huge park with ponds.
• Nearby: Two of France's unmissable attractions are a short drive from Cherbourg. The famous Bayeux Tapestry is a stunning piece of work from the 11th century, depicting the Battle of Hastings. Mont St Michel is a World Heritage site, and its Benedictine Abbey is an exquisite and magical sight, perched on the top of a rocky islet rising dramatically out of the sea.
If your journey takes you to other parts of France, from Cherbourg the N13 motorway connects with a network of major roads for destinations in Brittany, the Loire, and further south.
