Aquitaine has a rich heritage of golfing tradition, so it follows that some of France’s oldest and most famous courses can be found in this historic region. In fact two of Aquitaine’s courses are rated in continental Europe’s top 50, whilst two others here are included on the PGA tour list. Consider also the region’s reliably warm and sunny climate, not to mention the delicious cuisine and legendary wines hereabouts, and you have a golfing destination ‘par excellence’.

Stylish beach resorts such as Biarritz, the stunningly beautiful landscapes of the Dordogne, vast pine forests, fascinating ancient towns and villages, plus of course world famous wines from the vineyards of Bordeaux – these are just a few of the many attractions that make Aquitaine such a wonderful place to visit. For golfers and non-golfers alike, the opportunities for off-course enjoyment are almost limitless.

Thanks to excellent roads, Aquitaine can be reached in just a few hours from our Channel ports. Alternatively, you may like to consider our overnight Plymouth to Santander service. Biarritz for instance, is just a short yet spectacular drive from northern Spain.

You can travel via Spain (for a supplement) and enjoy a luxurious cruise on our magnificent flagship, Pont-Aven, in both directions, or make it one way and take a leisurely drive up through France before returning home from a Channel port.

For more information about non-golf activities in Aquitaine take a look at our Aquitaine regional guide.
