PETS Travel Scheme Compliance Checklist
...what must be checked by pet owners and vets to ensure compliance with the Pet Travel Scheme
If any of these details are incomplete or incorrect, then the animal will be refused travel.
Section 3 - Identification of animal
The microchip number
The microchip number of the animal must be identical to the microchip number on the pet passport.
The date of microchipping
The date of microchipping MUST be shown as being before the initial vaccination against rabies and before the rabies serological test.
Section 4 - Vaccination against rabies
All boxes must be completed:
- Manufacturer and name of vaccine
- Vaccination date and expiry date
- Signature and stamp of authorized vet
The voyage to the UK must take place before the ‘valid until’ date of the last booster vaccination.
The vaccination must have been done after the microchipping and before the rabies serological test.
Section 5 - Rabies Serological Test
Date of blood sample
The blood sample must have been taken at least 6 months before the date of travel.
It must also have been taken after the microchipping and the initial vaccination against rabies.
Name, date, signature and stamp

Section 6 - Tick Treatment
All boxes must be filled in:
- Manufacturer and name of product
- Date of the treatment in the upper box
- Time of the treatment in the lower box
- Stamp and signature of the vet
The treatment must have been carried out within 24 – 48 hours of embarkation.
Section 7 - Tapeworm Treatment
All boxes must be filled in:
- Manufacturer and name of product
- Date of the treatment in the upper box
- Time of the treatment in the lower box
- Stamp and signature of the vet
The treatment must have been carried out within 24 – 48 hours of embarkation.

Please note that, whilst we at Brittany Ferries will do our utmost to ensure that checks are done appropriately at our ports, if you experience a problem with documentation upon entry into the UK or Ireland, then any related costs for either the quarantine of or re-export of your pet will be entirely your own responsibility
