Pick your tee-time at some of Europe's finest and crowd free French coastal golf courses
Play a round at any of the Brittany Ferries' specially chosen golf courses along the French coastline and you'll discover some course's par excellence! The Normandy, Brittany and Western Loire coastal regions combine some quality golfing with stunning scenery along with plenty of other touring activities.
What's more, you'll be able to enjoy these courses virtually crowd-free. France has (only) over 350,000 registered golfers. When you compare this with the 3.8 million (plus) registered golfers in the UK, you'll find it easy to secure your tee-time with our Golf Desk and enjoy the greens and fairways, free of the masses, at any of these fabulous courses:
Located in the Normandy region:
Golf de Omaha Beach is situated close to the D-Day landing beaches, and deserves its label as one the best international courses in the west of France. Its 27 holes are spectacularly located on the cliffs above Omaha beach. Start the day with the challenging 18 hole Scottish style links comprising La Mer (excellent views to be seen from the sea course) and Le Bocage (set in an apple orchard), then continue with a round on the American style l'Etang course, an exciting 9 holes with lots of water. This course is definitely one of the most rewarding courses in the area with large and fast greens.
Golf de Granville is a typical links course designed by Mr Colts in 1912 and then renovated in 1992. North of Granville and running along the coast, the sea breeze allows it to be played at all times and offers a good game over undulating fairways. After an exhilarating round you can relax in the friendly clubhouse.
Golf d'Etretat is a Chantepie and Fruchet designed links course, which is nearly 100 years old. It's rated amongst the top 25 best courses in France. Etretat is on the famous chalky cliffs of the Alabaster coast and although relatively flat, it requires a great variety of shots and has very well defended greens - very demanding in the wind! The course is in superb condition and after your round you can admire the panoramic views further from the clubhouse and restaurant.
Located in the Brittany region:
Golf de Pleneuf, situated on the edge of the Emerald Coast, is modern links/parkland course which is rated one of the best in France and enjoys dramatic sea views. It is well maintained and suited to players of all abilities. This is a course not to be missed, if only to play the 11th hole with a tee some 200ft above the fairway which runs along the coast.
Dinard Golf Club is the second oldest golf course in France. This is a traditional links where the greens are well maintained, well defended and reached by attractive fairways. This difficult but enjoyable course is in a most beautiful area with a panoramic view of the Emerald Sea, and has a friendly clubhouse with what has been described as an almost British atmosphere.
In the Western Loire region:
Golf club St Jean de Monts is a new course which occupies an exceptional coastal site. The first 9 holes are amongst pine woods with some tricky bunkers, while the final 9 holes run alongside a wide stretch of beach bordering the ocean. It must be one of the best courses in western France and has excellent modern facilities.
