A French gite or cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the surrounding countryside, and to enjoy a variety of recreational amenities such as golf, fishing, cycling, or horse riding.

About French Gites and cottages

The only real difference between gites in France and cottages in France is that gites are French owned with the owner often living nearby, while cottages mostly belong to UK residents and may have décor and fittings that reflect this. Gite owners are required to sign the official 'Gites de France' charter, and to maintain the high standards that it demands.

An overview of our French Gite and cottage holidays

  • Available in 14 French regions
  • Properties available in rural retreats, market towns and coastal locations
  • Many offer activities close-by including golf, fishing, tennis, hiking and watersports
  • Suitable for adult, family and group holidays
  • Many properties are pet friendly
  • Some properties have private or shared swimming pools

Superb choice and locations

Many gites and cottages are farmhouses or converted barns - others may be a chalet, apartment, or hunting lodge. Settings can vary from peaceful countryside to lively towns and small villages, or close to the coast.

All self-catering gites and cottages are fully equipped, self-contained, and inspected by us to ensure that they meet our high standards. Set in many locations all over France, they sleep from as few as two people, to as many as twenty or more.
