Free night offer - Brittany Ferries' Spanish Collection

To coincide with the start of the 2005 service to Spain on 16 March, Brittany Ferries is introducing a range of  “Free Night” offers on short break holidays from its Spanish Collection.

Available for travel between 16 March and 4 July (except during Easter), anyone booking a 3-night break will pay only for 2 nights, or 3 nights for a 4-night holiday. The offer applies to a wide range of hotels and luxury Paradors in and around Santander.

This offer is in addition to the 20% saving on ferry fares and on-board accommodation, so these holiday packages represent really outstanding value. Remember too, they can be booked through travel agents and are backed by a Passenger Shipping Association bond, thus providing protection which is not available to those using low cost airlines.

But these savings don’t mean compromising quality. The holiday begins and ends with a leisurely overnight cruise to and from Santander aboard Brittany Ferries’ £100 million luxury flagship, Pont-Aven.

Largely undiscovered by British tourists, this part of Spain around Santander offers many attractions for the astute traveller: - miles of unspoilt coastline and countryside, the spectacular and surprisingly accessible Picos mountain range, the historic caves of Altamira, the medieval gem of Santillana del Mar, the sophisticated city of Santander and much, much more.

Prices start from just £140 per person for 3 nights and here are just a few examples:

• Parador Fuente Dé (reference HS0208), Cantabria – The drive to this parador is amazing enough, passing through a gorge so deep the sunlight never hits the bottom. The parador sits at the bottom of mountains, but a cable-car is on hand to take the strain out of getting to the top for some magnificent views and walking.

• Hotel Real, Santander (reference HS0482) - This classic grand five star hotel with 75 years of history is in a prime position overlooking the bay of Santander. Its lavishly furnished rooms and lounges echo a golden age of travel, and you can expect service to match. Gardens and terraces let you relax and soak up the views, the elegant restaurant serves regional and international cuisine, and there is also a water therapy spa and treatment centre

• Hotel Del Oso, Cosgaya (reference HS 0174), Cantabria – This is a super little three star country hotel at Cosgaya, on the road into the mountains 13k from Potes, with a fine reputation for delicious food, and big portions (needed after an active day enjoying the great outdoors). Very popular with both British and Spanish alike. It is a few kilometers from Fuente Dé, where the cable car can take you even higher up into the National Park. There are many excursions to be taken into the Picos Mountains either on foot, by horse or by 4-wheel drive.

For those with less time to spare, Brittany Ferries is also offering a great value two day return cruise from Plymouth to Santander from just £79 per person, including cabin accommodation, breakfasts and time ashore in Santander.
