Cycling Holidays in Spain

Have you cycled around France and are now looking for somewhere a little more challenging? Fancy some great scenery with hills? Many rate the Picos de Europa mountain ranges to be one of the best places in the world to cycle, where empty roads and stunning views combine with the sounds and smells that delight the senses. Be sure to bring your camera as you may be lucky to click a bear, eagle or vulture.

Perhaps the long hill climbs don’t appeal but large empty beaches do? Northern Spain offers some of the best unspoilt beaches in Europe. Whether surfing or sunbathing you can always find the perfect bay.

Along the way, you will be sure to find villages where nothing much has changed for the past 100 years, where the local Rioja or a cerveza will be served along with a few tapas.

Getting there...

Santander is a few miles from the Picos, in the middle of Spain’s northern coast. It is the ideal place to start a cycling holiday in Spain. Whether from Plymouth or Portsmouth, we would love you to take your bike. Brittany Ferries and cycling – the perfect green partnership.

Taking your bike to Spain could not be easier. Simply walk it onboard through the car entrance, strap it to the points provided, then relax whilst enjoying the crossing. Unlike planes, there is no need to dismantle the bike to box it up, or to wonder whether it will arrive from the luggage hold in one piece, if at all. You have a tandem? No problem. Tandems and bikes are all the same great low price.
