Alternatively drive through France stopping and playing a few courses en route to make an even more interesting and varied golfing holiday.

PGA Catalunya Resort

Leave our port in northern Spain and drive to Caldes de Malavella, a spa resort around 20 minutes inland from Tossa de Mar, and where the PGA Golf de Catalunya is found. The superb Stadium course has hosted the Spanish Open and is voted one of the 10 best in Europe by Golf World - designed by Angel Gallardo and Neil Coles it is considered to deliver the ultimate golfing experience.

Stay 3 nights in the 4* Hotel Meliá Golf Vichy Catalán - modern design and stylishly decorated - where the spacious rooms overlook the course or pool and play two rounds of golf - one on Stadium, the championship course, and another on Tour that opened in 2005. With the Pyrenees in the background and the sea within easy reach this really is a great location; there is also an excellent restaurant plus spa and gym on site for après golf recreation, and if you want to stay longer or not play golf this is possible.

Calonge - Platja d'Aro

Drive down through France or across from the north of Spain towards Girona and then off to Calonge where you stay at the Silken Park Hotel San Jorge for 5 nights. This modern hotel is set in a beautiful spot above two sandy coves, has spectacular sea views and a lovely pool where you can relax and gaze at the Mediterranean.

During your stay you play both of the fabulous PGA Catalunya golf courses - Stadium and Tour - and also a round on the Golf d'Aro (also known as Mas Nou Golf) that's high above the resort of Platja d'Aro in a marvellous setting with panoramic views of the coast and undulating countryside - this is a challenging championship course and it's worth taking a camera to record the amazing views. Between tee offs, there's plenty to see and do in this stunning area and if you didn't know the Costa Brava was voted 'Best Golf Destination' in 2000.
