Club de Golf Villa Mayor, Salamanca - SGI001

Maintained in first-class condition, the greens are particularly good. Relatively flat, the front nine is fairly open and easily walked. The trees present less of a hazard than the bunkers, which are well sited and pretty big. With much more elevation and a large lake to the left of the 10th green, the second half is both scenically more appealing and a great deal more demanding. Scattered piles of massive rocks add even more visual interest. There's also a double-decker driving range and an outdoor swimming pool.

Club de Golf La Valmuza, Salamanca - SGI002

Designed by Severiano Ballesteros, La Valmuza looks so mature that it's hard to believe that it only opened as recently as 2005. Most of the holes appear to radiate out from the clubhouse and it makes great use of the Encinas (native oaks) and mounding on either side of the fairways to give much needed definition and visual appeal. A comfortable walking course set in wonderfully quiet countryside, it contains three lakes. Beautifully maintained and blessed with superb greens, it also boasts an imposing clubhouse and excellent practice area.

Club de Golf de Salamanca, Salamanca - SGI003

Seemingly set in the wilderness where the quiet is almost deafening, this is simply a stunning course. Maintained to the very highest standards, this 15-year-old, parkland creation is a dazzling green oasis. With plenty of elevation, sweeping fairways, glorious scenery across hills and mountains, white sand bunkers and an enormous lake, there is more than enough to keep even the most demanding golfer happy. Perhaps the most striking and attractive feature are the marvellous Encinas (native oaks). Don't go without visiting the spectacular clubhouse and magnificent terrace.
