Le bidule
Right in the historic town centre of Rouen, Le Bidule is one of a kind. The splendid vaulted cellar offers two distinct areas: one contains the dance-floor while the other, calmer and more intimate, offers an opportunity to relax quietly over a cocktail or a flaming shot.
The decoration is vaguely oriental with Moroccan lamps and upholstered arm-chairs. An exotic atmosphere in which to enjoy the house music that keeps the Bidule rocking until late into the night.

Within the Forum du Volcan, the national theatre of Le Havre affectionately known as the "yogurt pot", the recently-opened Cabaret Electric is a smaller, more intimate theatre whose programme concentrates primarily on new musical talent. Over forty concerts a year are staged in this unusual venue, which provides support to artistes throughout their work. Leading groups are often to be found here, polishing up their next show or preparing an album in the course of a creative residency. Le Chenevis
The building is in the purest Norman style, but the decoration at Le Chenevis is rather original: lots of wood, hand-made mosaic tables, chairs and other objects customised by Esgre Paillot, a local artist whose works are on permanent display in the restaurant.
Everything on the menu is organic: tea, fish, meat and vegetarian dishes, with something for all tastes in a range that leans heavily towards the home-made. Perhaps the vegetable pâté with malted grains will win new fans for the restaurant, which also serves teas Tuesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Au gré du vin
Near downtown Cherbourg, a stone's throw from the swing bridge there is a homely little wine bar.
The warm colours, 20's interior, and the soft blues or jazz tunes all give character to this convivial spot.
The wine menu will offer a dozen or so wine-by-the-glass selections and, to keep within the spirit, a number of home-made sandwiches and various dishes.
Their specialties include Normandy sandwiches, a "campagnarde" dish with patés and charcuteries, and of course jugs of fine wine.

Augusto - Chez Laurent
Just opposite the city's main square, the place Morny, Augusto - Chez Laurent is a gastronomical restaurant wich an excellent reputation for red meat and quality fish. A notable fixed-price menu is the "Homard dans tout ses états", a lobster meal in 5 courses, 4 of which are mainly lobster (three starters, a main course, and a dessert).

The menu is constantly changing, tied as it is to the seasons and the subsequent availability of market products.
The building is old fashioned, the decorative theme is along the lines of "cruiseship interior", with mahogany and stark white colours and, to top it off, a whole tank of live lobster!
The establishment was recently visited by Sophie Dudemaine for her famed cooking show Les Recettes de Sophie.

Dolly Café/English shop
Grossard - viaFrance
In a renovated 40's buildiung caught between the château and the Leroy tower, this typical "country-living" establishment is like a home away from home. Little wicker armchairs and family photos on the walls definitely give this place a lived-in feel.

The real reason for coming, though, is the hybrid "Frenglish" cuisine, with some typical Brit brekkie or brunch, fish and chips and baked beans… There is a tea-room as well that serves organic coffee and hot chocolate, and a large selection of pastries: cream-tea, crumbles, lemon meringue pie…
Comfort food for the homesick and everyone else!

Incognito
Chapuis-viaFrance
Stéphane Carbone is an excellent chef. He learnt the basics by helping out during the grand Sunday meals prepared by his grandmother, and is this experience which makes him such a specialist in terms of traditional dishes and "terroir" products (in particular those of the Lyon and Calabre regions and those of Normandy).

His restaurant in Port-en-Bessin, l'Ecailler, was awarded a Michelin star. Now with Incognito he has achieved the same feat only a year after its opening.

In this restaurant you can admire the complex and sometimes chaotic ballet taking place in the kitchen as the whole restaurant is opened up. The contemporary, refined interior is tastefully laid out, and the food is simply divine.
