Getting to Bilbao (Zierbena) port
By car
Brittany Ferries operates from the port of Bilbao close to the small village of Zierbena. To reach the port follow signs from the A8 / E70 motorway (junction 130) to Portua and then Ferry. Zierbena lies approximately 13 miles (21km) to the west of Bilbao and is accessible from both the west via the A8 (Santander) and the east (Madrid, Barcelona and SW France). If you are travelling from the east of Spain you need to pass the city of Bilbao on the A8 / E70 motorway and initially follow signs for Santander, until you see signs for 'portua'.
The city centre of Bilbao can be reached in 20 minutes by car. Bilbao is 1 hour 30 minutes from the French border, 3 hours from Zaragoza, 4 hours from Madrid and 6 hours from Barcelona.
By metro
The nearest station to the port is Santurtzi, approximately 3kms from the Brittany Ferries terminal (a 5 minute taxi ride away). Santurtzi is the last stop on Line 2 and provides direct access into the city centre of Bilbao. Please note there is no public transport directly to the ferry terminal. By train
There are direct national rail network connections with the major Spanish cities and the whole Iberian Peninsula. The station can be found on Plaza Circular 2. Two daily trains operate to and from Madrid with a journey time of six hours if you take the afternoon train and seven if you take the night train.

Bilbao port facilities
A small, air-conditioned terminal at the port, offers limited facilities, including toilets and vending machines. There is a snack bar for sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and snacks. The nearest restaurants can be found in the small fishing port of Zierbena, approximately 1km from the terminal.

Facilities for the disabled
Access to the terminal is possible for disabled passengers. There are disabled toilet facilities.
Parking at Bilbao port
The port offers parking with designated disabled parking areas.Parking for camper vans, caravans and cars is available overnight in the terminal car park.

There is a Tourist information point in the terminal open on the days when there are sailings.
Accommodation near our port in Bilbao
The attractive coastal town of Castro-Urdiales makes an ideal place to stay prior to your ferry crossing. The town is just 20 minutes to the west of the ferry terminal. Our featured hotel is Las Rocas. Also nearby is the campsite 'Camping Playa Arenillas'.
Alternatively, stay in the city of Bilbao itself and enjoy one of the city's tapas bars or enjoy a visit to the Guggenheim Museum. We have centrally located hotels which include parking and the port is located approximately 20 minutes to the north west of the city.
