Bilbao Ferry Port is positioned just 21km from Bilbao city in the Pais Vasco region of Spain.

A small, air-conditioned terminal at the port, offers limited facilities, including toilets. There is a snack bar for sandwiches, hot and cold drinks and snacks. The nearest restaurants can be found in the small fishing port of Zierbena, approximately 1km from the terminal.
- Single storey terminal building is easily accessed by wheelchair users and is close to the car lanes
- Disabled toilets can be found inside the terminal building. There are none in the car lanes
- Disabled or reduced mobility passengers can access the bar facilities in front of the car lanes as it has a slight access ramp
- All foot passengers, including those with reduced mobility will be transported using a Brittany Ferries vehicle. There is no gangway in Bilbao so foot passengers are taken on and off the ship via a lift or the escalator at the stern of the ship (escalator on Cap Finistère only)
- A wheelchair can be provided by the ship in case of emergency but there are no wheelchairs available in the terminal

Travelling with Dogs
Dogs are allowed in all areas of the port but they must be on a lead and muzzled. Dogs are not allowed to leave the vehicle once they have been checked in.
Accommodation near the port
The attractive coastal town of Castro-Urdiales makes an ideal place to stay prior to your ferry crossing. The town is just 20 minutes to the west of the ferry terminal. Our featured hotel is Las Rocas. Also nearby is the campsite 'Camping Playa Arenillas'.
Alternatively, stay in the city of Bilbao itself and enjoy one of the city's tapas bars or enjoy a visit to the Guggenheim Museum. We have centrally located hotels which include parking and the port is located approximately 20 minutes to the north west of the city. Brittany Ferries operates from the port of Bilbao. To reach the Port of Bilbao take exit 130 signposted Portua on the A8/E70 motorway between Bilbao and Santander and then follow yellow signs for Ferry. You can view the exact location on our Trip Planner here.
The city centre of Bilbao can be reached in 20 minutes by car. Bilbao is 1 hour 30 minutes from the French border, 3 hours from Zaragoza, 4 hours from Madrid and 6 hours from Barcelona.
The nearest station to the port is Santurtzi, approximately 3kms from the Brittany Ferries terminal (a 5 minute taxi ride away). Santurtzi is the last stop on Line 2 and provides direct access into the city centre of Bilbao. Please note there is no public transport directly to the ferry terminal. Taxis can be booked through Parada de Taxis de Santurtzi (Tel +34 94 461 03 56) parada-taxis-santurtzi A taxi from from the port of Bibao to Santurtzi is approximately 10€. From there a metro service is available to reach Bilbao city centre.
There are direct national rail network connections with the major Spanish cities and the whole Iberian Peninsula. The station can be found on Plaza Circular 2. Two daily trains operate to and from Madrid with a journey time of six hours if you take the afternoon train and seven if you take the night train.
The port offers unsupervised parking with designated disabled parking areas. Parking for camper vans, caravans and cars is available overnight in the terminal car park.
Bilbao, in the Basque Country, is a captivating contradiction of old and new. Such buildings as the striking new Guggenheim Museum are set against the stunning Gothic architecture of Casco Viejo (the 'Old Town').
