Description of Hotel du Château, Josselin

The attractive medieval town of Josselin has bags of history and some pretty impressive splendours including its 12thC turreted château and fascinating doll museum which is housed in the converted stables. Tempting gift shops, pavement cafés, bars and bistros line the cobbled streets of the old town and on Saturday there is a lively farmers' market that sells everything from cheese to live chickens. Aptly named, this simple but pleasant hotel is in a lovely position across from the château alongside the Nantes-Brest canal and has an excellent restaurant, comfortable rooms and a good buffet breakfast to start the day. Hotel garage approx. 10 euros/night.

Restaurant closed Fri/Sat/Sun (Oct-Mar).

Customer Reviews

Mr Jonathan Dixon

Really functional and spacious bedrooms, clean and uncluttered. Excellent breakfast and varied evening meals. Helpful and pleasant staff.

Mr Geoffrey Stockdale

The hotel is on the side of the canal in the centre of Josselin and we had a room on the second floor with a view overlooking the château. The hotel has private parking across the road with plenty of room. The breakfast provided was excellent. There is no lift in the hotel, but the hotel will provide assistance with luggage if requested. I would recommend this hotel with no hesitation. We visited in early June on a Monday, and the majority of the restaurants and bars in Josselin were closed after lunchtime.

Mr Nigel Baker

A most enjoyable family run Logis de France hotel with an excellent, spacious restaurant with very reasonable food. It is worth paying a supplement for a room with a view over the river and chateau. Worth a detour.

Mr Geoffrey Harding

The accommodation is placed so that nearly all the rooms face the Chateau on the opposite side of the canal. The rooms are based on 3 floors with private parking close by. The continental breakfast was plentiful and the staff very pleasant. Even though we left very early in the morning for the return ferry, the staff made sure we had a basket of assorted food before we left. A visit to this hotel & location later in the season when there are more activities on the canal will be a definite booking.
