Regularly ranked among the top 10 courses in France, and at the heart of an intimate seaside town with a wide range of bars and restaurants, this is an annual fixture on the European Challenge Tour. The turn, from holes 10 to 12, features three simply wonderful challenges ... a short downhill par four made daunting by the blind tee shot and ultra-narrow fairway; a remarkably picturesque par five with the sea on your left and a derelict cottage in your line from the (very) elevated tee; and a tough uphill par four requiring a good drive and even better approach shot, perhaps with a fairway wood, into a hilltop green. The rest of the course is impressive too, with generally generous fairways, some corking short holes and a couple of intimidating tee shots over ravines. It's a little bit links, partly parkland with a hint of heathland ... but at a fraction of the price you'd be paying for its equivalent in Scotland or Surrey. In close proximity to St Malo, it's little wonder that Pleneuf is so popular with visiting golfers. Free trolley hire when playing this course.
