Customer Reviews
Very much enjoyed using this gite & the novelty of feeding fish from the dining room window! Chinon was a great place to explore the Loire area. There are lots of interesting historical, cultural, botanical, ornithological, entomological & oenological things to do. Just go explore! Jenny & Pete Foster, August/September 2011
We loved the views & the ease of strolling into town. Sunday is farmers market good for fruits & vegetables. Monday is great day for window shopping in Chinon and little open apart from some cafés. Osprey hunting at the chateau Ussé on the Loire. Another bonus was the antiques market on the 21st. Mark & Shirley Stanley, August 2011
We have had a lovely week in this gite which is superbly located. We visited Villandry gardens which are beautiful & went to Saumur & Tours. Thursday morning market at Chinon is to be recommended, a large market with food produce. Altogether, we have had a great week and are sad to leave. Carolyn & Mick Glynn, July/August 2011
A very enjoyable week & Chinon is delightful; we enjoyed visiting the chateau & wandering around the little streets. Richelieu & Candes St Martin/Monsoreau are well worth visiting & very pretty! The view of the chateau lit up at night makes up for it! We have had a lovely time! Elizabeth & Douglas Humphrys, July 2011
What a super gite, very comfortable & with everything in it that we needed. The view of the chateau at night is unsurpassable! We had a horse ride around town and a boat ride up the Vienne. The chateau was also very interesting, despite being a ruin. We had Sunday lunch out at La Bonne France, a fantastic set meal for 14 euros. Altogether a marvellous week, we would love to come back. Robert & Dyanne Darch, July 2011
We last visited Chinon 10 years ago & it is lovely to return to find it even better we remembered. Chinon's medieval streets are so lovely & it is worth the walk to St Radegonde chapel & the abandoned troglodyte village on the way there. We have had a lovely holiday and would recommend the gite to anyone. Ray & Laral Elliott, July 2011
Wonderful stay in Chinon which has changed & improved so much since we last visited the town 5 years ago. The house has the most wonderful view over the river & is a great place to stay & visit the surrounding area. Saumur, Fontevraud & Chinon have wonderful chateaux to visit. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Maison & look forward to coming back! Kym & Keith Butler, July 2011
The gite here is first class, extremely equipped with the best view anyone could wish for. We visited the Musée Maurice Dufresne (Mechanical Exhibits) and the Musée des Champignons which are very interesting. We also decided to travel down to Poitiers to Futuroscope (very good visit). We have stayed at many gites over the year and this one certainly is near the top of our list. Anne & Grahame Newnham, June/July 2011
Chinon! A lovely place to stay must be the best view from this window anywhere in Europe. Top marks to all the places we visited: L'Abbaye de Fontevraud, Azay le Rideau, Candes St Martin, Château de Montsoreau, Château de Villandry and best of all, Château de Chinon and the troglodyte village. We recommend all them all, each different and well worth visiting. Christine & John Geeson, June 2011
We have stayed in several gites in & around Tours, Chinon & Saumur but we both agree this is the best. Being literally on the river makes a huge difference & breakfasting with a view of the chateau from the window normally as seen on picture postcards is something special. An interesting and enjoyable holiday! Kenneth & Mary Oldfield, June 2011
