Description of Hotel le Marbore, Gavarnie
Gavarnie is one of the most visited sites in France - a 'cirque' or stone amphitheatre in the Pyrénées, with sparkling waterfalls bouncing down its craggy face, reached by mountain paths from the village below. Surrounded by National Park at the entrance of the village, you can relax in the bar or Turkish bath and make use of the gym in this lovely hotel before being tempted by a menu of regional dishes served in the restaurant overlooking the little river or on the summer terrace looking out at the mountain peaks. Customer Review
A private hotel run by a somewhat eccentric charming older couple with great energy and verve. Expect to have a good natured finger wagged at you if you don't follow the rules! Interior rather dim and quite idiosyncratic, e.g stuffed foxes wearing sunglasses - but that all adds to the charm of the place. Don't go here if you're expecting swish, modern facilities - but if you're looking for somewhere a bit different, this is the place. Great location for the Cirque and walking.
