An important link in D-Day history, the charming fishing port of Port en Bessin is probably best known for its international 18 hole golf course spectacularly located on the cliffs above the Landing beaches. The harbourand its surroundings are very picturesque and were often the subject of French artists Signac and Seurat and you can follow a marked trail on a self-guided walking tour of the harbour and its history. Excursions & boat rides are available to explore the nearby D-Day Landing beaches (Omaha Beach 5k) where there are various museums to visit dedicated to this wartime period and there is also the shipwreck museum on the outskirts of town which displays the artefacts found over the last 60 years whilst clearing the bay to make fishing and diving safer. The town itself is quite small with the main area centred around the port, and there's an excellent Sunday market plus a fabulous fish market where you can buy the freshest seafood caught that morning. And after spending time here you can sit in a cafe and soak up the atmosphere, enjoying the views of the very boats that brought in the fish that day. The Ibis is a no frills, good value for money hotel right in the centre alongside the port. It has a large modern bar where snacks are available all day long and comfortable, air conditioned bedrooms, all with large beds, a shower as opposed to a bath and a view out over the port or cliff behind. Shops, bars and a good choice of restaurants are within a couple of minutes' walk and the famous golf course is just a short drive up the hill.

Excellent location for local restaurants and visiting "D Day" beaches and history.

Located in small working port with good restaurant facilities close by. Free parking at rear of hotel. All you would expect from an Ibis - very clean and comfortable.

Lovely hotel in an excellent location. Having had a double hip replacement it was great to have a walk in shower instead of a shower in a bath. The breakfast was superb & the staff were very helpful & friendly. Excellent value for money & well worth a 2nd visit.

The accommodation at the Ibis Hotel, Port-en-Bessin was extremely clean, warm and with plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious for two people. The buffet breakfast had a very varied choice. The parking was easy to find behind the hotel if you do your homework beforehand. Wi-Fi was good also.

A very comfortable mid-range hotel ideally situated in the village of Port en Bessin. Very helpful and friendly staff who have a very good command of english and were very good at making reservations for dinner at various restaurants.

Hotel Ibis is situated on the harbourside in this charming small french village. A hugely important village during WW2. It's importance still highlighted in some of the restaurants and cafes. Staff gave a friendly welcome and were charming throughout our stay. Breakfast, buffet style, was excellent, good choices and everything clearly freshly produced. Very good, quiet location, understated excellence.

The staff were very friendly and looked after us really well. We were travelling with a wheelchair user and they allocated us a disabled parking space close to the entrance. The breakfast was fantastic - you could have any kind of food you wanted.
