Customer Reviews

Another great stay at a fantastic bungalow; we came last year same time and weather was great but this time it has been mixed. Highlight for Sue was to see the donkeys in their trousers at Ile de Ré & La Palmyre zoo was great again. Again a warm welcome from the caretaker and a lovely holiday! Sue & Paul Clarke, September 2011
We have had a marvellous holiday with fabulous weather & the gite is fabulous, thank you: a real home from home. We visited Ile d'Oléron & Ile de Ré, La Rochelle & the transbordeur at Rochefort was a novelty. We hired bikes in La Rochelle to cycle along the coast and in the Marais Poitevin and the boys enjoyed cycling to Aigrefeuille for bread and also to collect blackberries up the lane for their home-made crumble! An area we shall certainly return to. The McDonalds, August/September 2011
Could not wait to return for a fortnight after enjoying our week here last summer; the gite, again, was 1st class in every respect & the weather has been brilliant, even too hot at times (not used to this in Birmingham!). Thanks to the caretaker for her kindness and welcome! The Waymans, August 2011
This is our 3rd visit to this gite and once again we have had a very lovely restful holiday. Weather has been mixed but has not stopped our enjoyment. Went to the Puy du Fou, a great place to visit and enjoyed La Rochelle & the Ile de Ré. Our thanks to the caretaker for the warm welcome and gite clean as always. The Lutkins, July/August 2011
Thank you to the caretaker for advising us on where to take our children (4 & 6) to make it an exciting & pleasant holiday. The gite has made our stay most comfortable and we have enjoyed many historic visits. Bikes are essential as we could not hire for the boys so were unable to cycle. The view at the top of Baleines lighthouse is a must and Le Vieux Puits is a lovely restaurant in Surgères & a trip on the Venise Verte was very pleasurable. The Tullochs, July 2011
Well what can we say: Fabulous and best gite ever! Firstly, a thank you to the owners for their quality style and the loan of the gite & secondly thank you to the caretaker for her warm & friendly welcome; you made us feel so relaxed after the journey & your kindness is brilliant. Ile de Ré is a must as well as Rochefort, La Rochelle, Chatelaillon Plage & Intermarché is very handy. Mick & Lyn Wild, June/July 2011
A lovely warm welcome & a fabulous base for our holiday; we have been to the area many times & this is the nicest house we've stayed in - will definitely return. 2 weeks wandering around 'brocantes' and 'vide greniers', the beautiful beaches of l'Ile de Ré & relaxing in the sunshine - so relaxed that we really don’t want to go home! Many thanks, we will be back. Willy, Nicky, Meg & Woody Williams, June 2011
This is our 2nd visit to this gite & still impressive. Visited usual places La Rochelle a highlight and ate at the 4 Sergeants for the 2nd time (good food). Fouras, on the coast, is worth a visit quite smart with a covered market, so is Bateau Lavoir at Landrais. Lynda & Andy Ellis, June 2011
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in this most comfortable house, so well designed and equipped with absolutely everything! We would certainly like to pay a return visit, because there is so much still to be seen. We particularly enjoyed the Ile d'Aix and touring round the island in the calèche. A visit to the Chain Tower in La Rochelle is worthwhile. May & Roland Norris, May 2011
We have had a lovely holiday in a very comfortable gite and the weather was perfect (hot & sunny every day). French wine was very good & the bread lady very handy. Visit to l'Hermione at Rochefort was impressive and a good Sunday lunch at the Auberge de la Forêt at Benon. I haven't been on a bike for 30 yrs but enjoyed visiting the lake. The Roberts & Harris, May 2011
