Description of Hotel St Jean d'Acre, La Rochelle
Exceptionally well located in the heart of the old town, and very difficult to photograph, this hotel is just to the right of the short, round tower that guards the inner harbour of La Rochelle. The air conditioned rooms are sound-proofed and comfortable, free Wi-Fi is available and, although the hotel does not have a restaurant, there are plenty to choose from nearby. A sophisticated seaport with a proud maritime history, it has chic shopping and smart bars - why not explore by bicycle - it is the only town in France where free bikes are offered to visitors!

Hotel Jean d'Acre is unbelievably well placed for the joys of all the activities that abound in La Rochelle. The electric water bus to the marina and other side of town is opposite. The hotel's modest breakfast room is more than compensated for by a professional and sincerely helpful staff. The food choices are too much to take in as every conceivable type of food is right there outside the door. This clean, light and airy hotel is a delight. Mr & Mrs Seymour, October 2012
