There is a good range of beaches within an hour's drive of this property, including Royan, a modern, lively town which has become a favourite holiday resort. Also a good area for walking or cycling.

We returned here again as it was so good last year and once again have had a most enjoyable holiday. We said we would return and we have a year later this time for 2 weeeks. We have had a most wonderful holiday yet again feeling so relaxed and at home at 'Le Maison Vert'. We have had 2 weeks of glorious sunshine - temperatures were up in the 30's. New & lovely discoveries: Talmont, Blaye, Mornac and Tina's bar at Meschers with live music - a superb evening. We've had a brilliant week here! The weather has been fantastic, although our first day was a little rainy. The Palmyre Zoo was a great day out, Saintes is very interesting (visited the amphitheatre and saw some other roman remains), Talmont is a very pretty village with lots of little gift shops and a beautiful church. We have really enjoyed our week at this lovely Charentaise house. The gite was very well equipped, with everything needed. Was a perfect place to rediscover France! Marvellous to eat at midday under the wysteria covered pergola before heading out for the afternoon. Found La Sauveté to be a peaceful spot, away from the busier coast. We have both really enjoyed staying in your gite. The description on the internet does not do it justice. We came armed with cleaning materials and not expected to come into someone's home with iron board and all the cleaning materials provided. The area was as described peaceful and away from it all. Thank you very much for letting us share your wonderful gite; so many places to see and things to do. Cycling has been great, all the way along the coast from Talmont and La Palmyre. What a wonderful start to wake up in this beautiful setting. A brilliant week, plenty of sunshine, the odd thunderstorm! We have cycled everywhere, as the cycle paths are so safe and take you to all the beauty spots and wonderful coastline. The gite is superb and M et Mme Reneaud lovely. Karen & Ken, August 2011

This week has gone really quickly, what a brilliant gite! So much room and a huge kitchen area. The nearest Boulangerie is 3k away in St Andre du Lidon, a kindly neighbour let me follow him there. We have had a trip to Saintes, always worth a look, a trip to the zoo at La Palmyre and two trips to the beach at Grande Cote. We also visited La Rochelle which was great and the aquarium was amazing. The locals here are very friendly and will help with anything. Merci Beaucoup. We have had a great holiday and La Maison Verte has been a lovely place to stay. We managed to meet up with some friends at Royan, it is s very busy town where the French seem to holiday. The evening was buzzing with street entertainers and market stalls which was such a contrast to where we are staying. A good evening out! We spent our beach days at Meschers (La Vergnes).
