Arriving at your property
Your accommodation will generally be ready for you to arrive between 4pm and 6pm and you are requested to leave by 10am. Please bear this in mind when booking your ferry crossings.

Description of Accommodation
St Hilaire de Riez is one of the less known Vendée resorts, between the livelier St Jean de Monts and Les Sables d'Olonne. This stretch of coast, the Côte de Lumière, has beautiful beaches of pale sand backed by pine forests & the area is popular for cycling, walking or riding, with many marked paths. Visit the stunning Ile de Noirmoutier (48k north and accessible by bridge or causeway at low tide) with its excellent seafood restaurants and good aquarium (Sealand) or the amazing Puy du Fou medieval theme park (well worth the 90 minute drive).
The Domaine de l'Etang de Besse is a well established 12-hectare site with 233 pitches alongside a forest, 1.5k from the beach. Here you can be as active as you like - bikes can be hired on site to take along the local cycle tracks or you could go riding, learn to sail or just head for the beach & relax.
Max: 4/5 - Chalet style mobile homes have living room with table/chairs, padded seating (converts to double bed), kitchen corner (4 ring hob + microwave), double & twin bedroom, shower, wc. Wooden terrace with garden furniture. Bbq hire 3 euros a day.
Max: 6 - As above but with 2 double bedrooms and 1 with bunk beds. Wooden terrace is covered.

SPORTS - Tennis, boules, table tennis & volleyball.
FOR CHILDREN - Free children's activities for 4-11 yrs (arts & crafts etc) & for teenagers (12-15 yrs), weekdays in Jul/Aug. Play area.
OTHER ACTIVITIES - Aquagym, evening entertainment (Jul/Aug). Sailing 3k.
FACILITIES - Sun terraces with loungers. Bike hire.
SWIMMING - Outdoor heated pool (12m x 20m & 0.8m-1.4m deep, open mid May to mid Sept) with waterslide and paddling pool. Indoor heated pool (6m x 10m & 0.8m-1.4m deep, open Apr-Oct) with jacuzzi.
End of stay cleaning - 54 euros.
Bed linen hire - 10 euros per bed.
Towel hire - 6 euros per person.
Baby facilities - Hire of cot, baby bath and high chair kit 25 euros per stay.

With many owner occupied chalets, the site is well cared for and the friendly staff lay on a wide range of entertainment and sports for the visitor. A good number of the staff speak English. The Carletons, August 2012
