Description of Parador, Fuente Dé
The drive from Santander is amazing, passing through a gorge so deep that sunlight never reaches the bottom, and when you get to Fuente Dé, the amazement continues. Surrounded by mountains and close to the cable car that can take the strain out of reaching the 2,000 metre level, the Parador is furnished in traditional mountain style and restaurant specialities include the warming hearty stew - cocido lebaniego. There is superb walking, and wonderful terrain for naturalists. Garage parking approx. 6 euros/night.

Prices in black are per person based on two sharing. They include B&B and return ferry crossings on selected sailings to Spain, for a standard car, 2 people and a 4 berth inside cabin with en suite facilities each way.

Ferry prices for holiday clients are greatly reduced therefore if you travel abroad for 7 nights or longer a minimum of 3 nights holiday accommodation for all members of the party must be booked.

The Parador is set in a stunning location at the head of a picturesque valley. The views from the hotel are magnificent and the cable car ride to the clifftop is thrilling. Our party of four 73+ year-old managed the four kilometres walk across the plateau from the cable car head to Avila hostel although we took the Landrover taxi back. While waiting for the cable car to take us down, we were entertained by eagles and vultures soaring close-by. Mr & Mrs Wright, July 2012
