Description of Gran Hotel Victoria, Santander
Once popular holiday apartments, this striking hotel offers very chic, interior designed, stylish accommodation. Set slightly uphill from the Sardinero beach, restaurants and casino, and with many of the air conditioned bedrooms benefiting from a sea view and balcony, it is an ideal choice for a stay in this delightful city. There's a lovely garden and covered terrace for outdoor dining, along with a bar/cafeteria and more formal restaurant. Guests can even enjoy a game of mini golf on top of the garage roof! Garage parking approx. 14 euros/night. The ferry terminal is a taxi ride away (7-11 euros plus luggage charge) or you can catch a bus outside the post office 200m from the terminal for approximately 1.2 euros per person.

What's included in the price?
Prices in black are per person based on two sharing. They include B&B and return ferry crossings on selected sailings to Spain, for a standard car, 2 people and a 4 berth inside cabin with en suite facilities each way.

Ferry prices for holiday clients are greatly reduced therefore if you travel abroad for 7 nights or longer a minimum of 3 nights holiday accommodation for all members of the party must be booked.

We stayed at Gran Hotel Victoria for one week in late April/May and thoroughly enjoyed it. All the staff were great and very tolerant of our limited Spanish. Many of the staff do in fact speak English. It has been some years since we stayed here and were very happy to find that standards throughout the hotel were very acceptable and if anything, better than on our previous stay. We found the restaurant choice and quality to be perfectly good, but acknowledge that pigs feet are not everyone's choice! Breakfast was a very pleasant and relaxed affair with a very wide choice as befits this standard of hotel. For those who cling to our traditional cooked breakfast, do be aware that only the Brits can cook scrambled eggs and bacon the way we like them. But you won't go hungry! It seems there are several different layouts of bedrooms at Gran Victoria. If you intend staying for more than a couple of nights and require a fair amount of storage space, you may have to sacrifice the large balcony. Enquire before booking if it is important to you. The location of Gran Victoria, is for us ideal. Street parking is very abundant and FREE! Beaches are great and a few yards away. The centre of town is walkable for most people along the coast and good walks to the lighthouse and around La Magdalena are also worthwhile. Alternatively, buses abound from El Sardinero. Gran Victoria is also ideally located for the ever popular evening "Paseo". Join in and enjoy it all. Mr & Mrs Woodward, April 2013
