Description of Hotel San Marcos, León
Founded in Roman times, León is one of Spain's greatest cities. As well as having beautiful architecture and a cathedral with magnificent stained glass, it has a lively atmosphere, a good choice of inviting cafés, restaurants and bars, particularly in the plazas & old quarter, and one of the grandest Parador hotels in all Spain - the Hotel San Marcos. Totally casual and relaxed, there is a glorious vaulted bar that has an atmosphere of a British 'local', and every corner holds a surprise, from Roman sarcophagi, to glimpsed weddings being conducted in the chapel.

What's included in the price?
Prices in black are per person based on two sharing. They include B&B and return ferry crossings on selected sailings to Spain, for a standard car, 2 people and a 4 berth inside cabin with en suite facilities each way.

Ferry prices for holiday clients are greatly reduced therefore if you travel abroad for 7 nights or longer a minimum of 3 nights holiday accommodation for all members of the party must be booked.

This is a tasteful Parador with a stunning historical setting. Antique paintings and furniture, not to mention medieval cloister et al. Breakfast was very good, and surprisingly substantial with a variety of food and drink. As it is a buffet you can eat and drink until you are full. Room was lovely: not flash, but understated. Plumbing was noisy in our room but we were moved immediately to a quieter room. Mrs Griffiths, October 2012
