Plain sailing with Ruby
Taking your pet on holiday with Brittany Ferries : Customer Experiences
My dog is called Ruby. She is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier - not the easiest of dogs to control at times. She loves people and especially children but prefers to be left alone by other dogs! So we first took her on holiday with us to France with some reluctance. Our concerns were unfounded.
The members of staff at reception are always lovely with her and she never minds having her micro chip checked...
She loves travelling on the ferry and we tend to leave her in the car even on the Portsmouth to St Malo route! She sleeps most of the time and even when we are allowed to go visit her she is reluctant to step out of the car for a walk!
We have found the checking in on the other side of the Channel very straight forward. The members of staff at reception are always lovely with her and she never minds having her micro chip checked.
We have found an excellent vet in St Malo which is only about 15 minutes away from our cottage and they are always very helpful. I must say she loves her holidays in France it's just like home from home for her. We can take into restaurants and some shops-which we can rarely do in the U.K.
She especially loves the beaches which you can take her on from mid September to mid June. She races up and down trying to chase seagulls and when it's time to leave we usually have to drag her away.
France is a very 'dog friendly' country and we always feel very comfortable about taking her there...
France is a very 'dog friendly' country and we always feel very comfortable about taking her there. Ruby is only four years old so I hope we have many more happy years travelling with her over to France. I would recommend to anyone who is reluctant about leaving their dog at home to give it a try. I know it takes a while with immunisations, blood tests etc. initially. But once all of the formalities are taken care of it's well worth it especially if you love your dog as much as I do. Ruby agrees with me too!
The perfect holiday for all the family!
