Nice and warm owners.

As this is our 16th visit to the west Pyrénées, we obviously think it's excellent and we have particularly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of this gîte - sat out in the evening watching the birds. It's a nice, light and airy gîte too.

We bought some excellent prepared dishes at the butcher/traiteur in Navarrenx, M. Casamayo - fish and veg. ones as I don't eat meat, but he is also an award-winning sausage maker. Everyone in Navarrenx has been very friendly - we just came back from watching tha Saumonnade, which is an annual salmon cooking competition - organised by M. Casamayo, which you can enter if you can rustle up a team of 10. Points for cooking, table decoration and your outfits!

We loved the gîte and the area. It is lovely to be surrounded by fields

Many thanks to Mme Domecq for coming to our rescue and putting us up at such short notice, and for the roses, tomatoes, eggs, apples and wine, together with pointing us in the right direction on our walks. We welcomed a lady pilgrim walker into the gite to shelter from a thunderstorm, she had left Zurich on the 21st j July and did not expect to reach Santiago de Compostella until 31st October. Whatever you think about religion you have to admire these travellers.
