A drive to Vannes is very worthwhile. It's a very busy tourist town with lots of places to eat and buy bric-à-brac to take home.

The SuperU supermarket near Carnac Plage is very well stocked and we generally shopped there. There's also a lovely market on Sunday in Carnac.

Bretons are a pleasantly insular population, and it was fascinating to meet an 84 year old member of the French Resistance.
