This is an excellent location in the centre of the historic city of Pau, with its sweeping views of the Pyrénées. It is in a fine old building with period furniture, spacious bedrooms and a restaurant offering 'creative cuisine'. Pau has an interesting history - it was the capital of the Kings of Navarre, and it was discovered by the British in the 19thC when the rich took their holidays here, introducing polo, croquet, rugby and fox hunting to the region, and opening the first golf course in France in 1860.
