The lovely Ile de Ré is renowned for its warm climate & beautiful beaches and is best explored by hiring a bicycle. The lovely Hotel de Toiras is right at the entrance to the picturesque port of St Martin de Ré, the historical capital, and the air conditioned bedrooms are all beautifully furnished with special fabrics and paintings inspired by famous historic characters from the Charente Maritime. Mouth watering fresh fish and local produce feature strongly on the restaurant menus which the chef personally creates and changes daily, and the romantic inner garden with its flowers and shrubs is the perfect place for an apéritif before taking a leisurely stroll around the harbour.
