This beautifully converted former 19thC wine warehouse is in a peaceful little village 7k from Doué la Fontaine and has character by the barrelful - quite literally as guests staying here can enjoy breakfast from a private table actually set inside a giant wine barrel! More like a friendly guest house, there is a small kitchen for guests' use, a well stocked library and even a shop selling local wine and walnuts. There is plenty to see and do whilst here including a silkworm farm and museum next door, numerous châteaux of the Loire, troglodyte villages, the famous riding school at Saumur and a great zoo at Doué. Additionally, the hotel will be happy to arrange early evening visits to nearby vineyards if you wish.
