The drive from Santander is amazing, passing through a gorge so deep that sunlight never reaches the bottom, and when you get to Fuente Dé, the amazement continues. Surrounded by mountains and close to the cable car that can take the strain out of reaching the 2,000 metre level, the parador is comfortably furnished in tradional mountain style and restaurant specialities include the warming hearty stew - cocido lebaniego. There is superb walking, and wonderful terrain for naturalists. Garage parking approx. 7 euros/night.
