HS1061 Posada Alfonso, Cóbreces

Just a short drive from the beautiful medieval village of Santillana del Mar, Cobreces is a small coastal village well known locally for its cheese which is made by monks in the nearby Cistern monastery. Spread over the hills above a bay, it is a popular family resort in summer mainly due to its lovely sandy beach which has impressive cliffs on one side and rolling green fields on the other. There are several shops, bars and restaurants but for a wider range of amenities and facilities, the historic town of Comillas is only 6k. Posada Alfonso is just a short walk from the village centre and is a typical Cantabrian wood and stone manor house which, along with a more recently added annexe, has been sympathetically restored to blend in with its natural surroundings. Family run, there are just 12 bedrooms, each with stone walls and wooden beams and all are attractively furnished. There is pleasant bar/tv lounge amd breakfast room, and the owners run a popular restaurant just along the road.
