Simple 250 yr old restored farmhouse near friendly English-speaking owners, adjoining donkey's stable in large grounds (unfenced pond). Kitchen (m/wave, w/machine). Dining room. Lounge (fireplace, tv, French window). Wc. Steep narrow stairs from hallway (2 armchairs) to 1 dble bedrm (en suite bath/shower/wc) & 1 with bunk beds (w/basin) leading to twin bedrm (also reached by steep stairs from lounge). Linen hire 13 euros per dble bed, 11 euros per sgle & 10 euros for cot. Cot, high chair, playpen, toys. Heating. Private garden (flowers, terrace, furniture, bbq, table tennis).

1 gent's, 3 ladies' & 2 children's bikes for hire (8 euros per bike per week) in good cycling area.

July 2007 Markets

Plenty of local markets to visit, but if you want something a bit different, on a Sunday morning they hold 'old fashioned' markets at Pont l'Eveque & Cambremer with the stalls holders dressed in traditional costume. Tuesday & Friday evenings there is horse racing in the hippodrome at Cabourg and even if you don't like horse racing, it is worth a visit - you can get free tickets at most tourist offices.

We would have been in trouble with Holly if we hadn't mentioned Neddy, Footsie & Dax. They were a welcome addition to the holiday & Holly had been looking forward so much to seeing them again.

Gite is lovely, peaceful and we had a very warm welcome from Robbie and Michelle. If you like cider or Calvados, the 'route du cidre' is a must. Lovely countryside and plenty of farms to taste and buy the produce. Like all brandies, Calvados improves with age by getting more subtle and complex - buy the oldest you can afford!
