The internationally renowned Médoc region has a diverse countryside, prestigious wines, warm climate and gastronomic specialities. Hourtin is a paradise for both nature lovers and watersport enthusiasts alike with its large lake and forest. Not to be missed is a visit to the châteaux, wine cellars and many good restaurants serving local cuisine (grilled meats and seafood dishes are particularly recommended).

By Hourtin's port, on the borders of the lake, and 8k from the beach, this residence of 50 maisonettes is 1k from the village centre, opposite some medieval houses and a youth sporting centre. There is a lively atmosphere here (sometimes until late at night), with summer concerts taking place by the harbour. Gym, sauna and unheated outdoor pool (15m x 6m, up to 1.5m deep, May-end Sept). Each maisonette has a private terrace with garden furniture. Breakfast 10 euros per person. Tv hire 40 euros per week.
