Montignac is well known for Lascaux II, an impressive reproduction of the actual prehistoric caves Lascaux I which are located close to the site. Some 39 metres long, it displays approximately 200 copies of the original drawings including majestic bulls, wild horses, life-like deer and Chinese horses. The Dordogne is dotted with well preserved towns & villages, one of the most attractive being Sarlat la Canéda (25k) whose old quarter with its narrow lanes is a delight to wander around - the best day to visit is Saturday, market day.

This modern complex of 94 terraced maisonettes and 16 duplex apartments is set in peaceful wooded grounds on the outskirts of Montignac, an idyllic village steeped in history. There's mountain biking and a tree adventure course in nearby Montignac forest. Watersports including canoeing, rafting & kayaking in river (2k). On site is a heated outdoor pool & paddling pool (mid June to mid Sept). Free children's club (4 to 11yrs), July/August. Tv hire 30-50 euros per week.
