The charming resort of Lacanau Océan, between pine forest and sea, has a long white sandy beach and Atlantic rollers popular with surfers. Slightly inland is Lacanau's vast freshwater lake which offers many water sport facilities including water skiing, sailing & windsurfing. An easy drive away are the Médoc vineyards and the city of Bordeaux (55k) with its fine architecture and many museums.
