Ruiloba is a quiet village just inland from the fine beaches on the Cantabrian coast - there's an excellent one at Comillas (3k), an attractive town and seaside resort with lots of nice restaurants and café-bars. A couple of summer festivals take place in Ruiloba, famous for traditional dancing. 12k from here is pretty medieval Santillana del Mar - a must for any visitor to this area - and it's also an easy drive to Potes for a day in the stunning mountain scenery of the Picos de Europa (60k).

The landscaped El Helguero site has 240 pitches in 15 acres of wooded grounds with open green areas and is popular with young people at weekends in summer. Facilities include an outdoor pool and entertainment for adults and children. A range of outdoor activities (hiking, mountain biking, fishing, parachuting) & watersports (windsurfing, canoeing) is available in the local area and weekend excursions are organised on site.

Max: 3/5 - Compact wooden chalets have kitchenette (2-ring hob, microwave, no oven) in dining area which leads out onto a terrace with patio furniture. Triple (single + bunk beds) and double bedrooms. Shower/wc. Portable heaters on request. Limited storage space.

FOR CHILDREN - Entertainment (pottery, games etc) subject to demand & playground.
