This beautifully restored house is semi-detached to the owners' home and is beside a quiet road in lovely Carrejo. Flowers adorn many of the attractive houses in this tranquil farming village which has one of the best preserved groups of Cantabrian style houses in the region, and it is also home to the 18th century Pedro de Ygareda Palace which houses the Cantabrican Nature Museum (free entry). The popular tourist haunt of Santillana del Mar is not far and there are many lovely beaches within easy driving distance.

Fitted kitchen/diner with f/freezer. Lounge with fireplace & tv. Shower room/wc with w/machine. 3 first floor bedrms - 1 dble, 1 twin & 1 sgle with large sgle bed. Bathroom/wc. C/heating. Small glassed gallery overlooking the pleasant enclosed garden with furniture & bbq.

There is a £146 supplement for week starting 24 March.

April 2007 Sightseeing

We liked Comillas - the Gaudi building next to the palace was amazing to see. The Altamira Caves centre is excellent and free on Sunday. Lovely to have plenty of space, a secluded garden and upstairs suntrap. No electric kettle but 'what's the hurry?'.

What a fabulous holiday! Words can't describe the house, people, food, countryside and beaches - perfect in every way. Cantabria is magical - just don't tell too many other people!

Our 3rd stay here for 4 weeks at a time! Great walks, good cycling and bird watching. Cabezón de la Sal and San Vicente are proper Spanish towns and well worth visiting.
