How does 3D printing work?

3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is a process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. It turns a whole object into thousands of tiny little slices, then makes it from the bottom-up, slice by slice. Each of these layers stick together and can be seen as thinly sliced horizontal cross-sections which form the solid object.

Watch the 3D printer in action opposite as it produces our mascot Pierre Le Bear, layer by layer.
