Job Title: Port Operations Assistant

Job Type: 
Full Time, Seasonal (April - September)

Salary:  £17,250 per annum (inclusive of flexibility allowance)

Job description: To deliver exceptional customer service as part of a dedicated port operations team. Duties include passenger check-in and related administrative processes.

The role is highly customer service focused and suits individuals who possess a considerable degree of flexibility and enthusiasm for variation. Applicants should be of smart appearance, flexible, friendly and should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills together with a strong commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Working a full-time 5 day week of 37.5 hours in shifts, to cover either early morning or late night opening hours, including weekends and bank holidays, applicants should be aware that public transport might not be available at the start or finish of shifts. No previous experience is necessary, as full training is provided.

French & Spanish language skills would be an advantage.

Plymouth Port

Job Title: Website Administrator/ Content Editor

Basis: Permanent Full-time (37.5 hours per week)  Location: Plymouth

The importance of the Brittany Ferries website both as a booking platform and for providing information about the company and its services is continuing to grow. More than 70% of direct ferry bookings and over 50% of holidays are booked online.

The Internet team in Plymouth currently maintains and develops www.brittany-ferries.co.uk and www.brittanyferries.ie and also has an input into the French, Spanish and German passenger sites as well as the company freight websites. Brittany Ferries is currently developing a fully responsive website based on an open source CMS. The successful candidate will be fully involved in this process, as well as ensuring the current sites are maintained with clear, concise and accurate information.

We are seeking an experienced webmaster to join the team and help us to achieve our objectives. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of how website construction, functionality, writing/ web publishing, search engine optimisation, information architecture, accessibility, design, usability/ customer journey, contributes to a successful website.

Overview

  • To co-maintain the Brittany Ferries UK and Irish websites as well as contributing to the other sites in the portfolio
  • Work closely with the web and marketing teams as well as external agencies to ensure the timely delivery of online marketing campaigns
  • Edit and create engaging and relevant content, for both readers and search engines

Skills and attitude

The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, a strong customer focus and fantastic problem solving abilities. Hard-working and committed, they will take pride in their work and have the desire to see all issues through to resolution. They will also demonstrate a high level of competence in the following areas:

  • A passion for digital and the world of online - someone who thrives on new knowledge and technologies
  • A strong commercial awareness
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to identify problems and use initiative to tackle and solve them
  • Whilst not essential, experience of the travel sector would be an advantage

Experience

Previous experience of working with Content Management Systems essential. A knowledge of Drupal would be an advantage.

A proven track record of working with:

  • HTML, CSS and XML
  • Photoshop and/ or Fireworks
  • Search engine optimization.
  • Google Analytics / Google Webmaster Tools

Poole Port

Job Title: Port Operations Assistant (Passenger)

Job Type: Temporary Part-time (16hrs-20hrs per week)

Closing Date: 12 February 2016

Award-winning cross-Channel ferry operator and a leading supplier of ferry inclusive holidays to France and Spain, Brittany Ferries are looking to recruit for the following temporary position to be based at our offices at the port of Poole :-

Passenger duties will include check-in, reservations, and related administration in addition to response to enquiries both face to face, on the telephone and via social media.
Applicants should be of smart appearance, flexible, friendly and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The hours of work will be based on a shift pattern involving early mornings, late evenings, and some split-shifts and will include some weekends and bank holidays. Own transport is essential.

The proposed commencement date will be the 14th March 2016 and the contract is expected to last until the end of September 2016. Full training and uniform will be provided.

Recruitment for onboard staff is handled through our Roscoff office, who have a permanent recruitment site. French and English language skills are considered a prerequisite for onboard staff.
