Passenger / Freight Receptionist

We currently have full-time seasonal vacancies at our Portsmouth Port with the possibility of permanent positions after a qualifying period.

Salary: £16,960 pa (inclusive of a flexibility allowance)

Job description:
Passenger/Freight Receptionists will primarily deal with the check-in of passengers, but will also make reservations and carry out various other administrative tasks. The role is highly customer service focused and suits individuals who possess a considerable degree of flexibility and enthusiasm for variation. Working a full-time 5 day week of 37.5 hours in shifts, to cover either early morning or late night opening hours, including weekends, applicants should be aware that public transport may not be available at the start or finish of shifts.

Port Operations Quayside staff (Seasonal)

Salary: £7.90 per hour

Job description:
As a member of our Port Operations department, you will be responsible for directing both passenger and freight vehicles through the Port and on and off the ships. You would also be expected to complete reports and carry out associated tasks. You will give assistance to passengers as required. You will need to be flexible, able to work as a team and enjoy working in a customer service environment. The working week consists of 30 hours and you would be required to work a shift pattern covering early mornings, late nights and weekends.

Plymouth Port

Poole Port

We are looking to recruit for the following temporary positions to be based at our offices at the port of Poole:-

Port Operations Assistant (Freight) Temporary Full Time
Passenger Receptionist Temporary Part Time (16 hours)
Port Operations Assistant (Marshal) Temporary Part Time ( 16 hours)


Passenger and freight duties will include check-in, reservations and related administration in addition to response to enquiries both face to face, on the telephone and via social media. Traffic Marshals will be required to welcome and direct passenger vehicles arriving at the port for check-in and to maintain a security presence at ship access points together with the completion of condition reports for unaccompanied freight vehicles.

Applicants should be of smart appearance, flexible, friendly and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills together with a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

The hours of work will be based on a shift pattern involving early mornings, late evenings, and some split-shifts and will include weekends and bank holidays. Own transport is essential.

The commencement date will be the 20th April 2015 and contracts are expected to last until the end of September 2015. Full training and uniform will be provided.

Recruitment for onboard staff is handled through our Roscoff office, who have a permanent recruitment site. French and English language skills are considered a prerequisite for onboard staff.
