Got a few hours to spare?

If you have a few hours to spare before your sailing, then why not check out some of the great attractions in Roscoff?

Ile de Batz

Walk: 20 mins (1.6km) + ferry 15 mins

Drive: 7 mins (2.1km) + ferry 15 mins

Just a short ferry ride from Roscoff is this pretty little island in the bay. Its main attraction is the exotic gardens on the southeast side of the island which has over 2000 plant species from across five continents.

Thanks to the island's place in the Gulf Stream, it enjoys a temperate climate that allows a variety of plants to thrive. Only a few hundred people live on the island so enjoy the peacefulness of the laid-back rural way of life and the unspoilt beaches all around its coast.

Children will love the curious rock formations or a trip up to the top of the lighthouse. You're sure to find the perfect spot for a picnic.

Maison des Johnnies et l'Oignons

Walk: 18 mins (1.4km)

Drive: 5 mins (2.3km)

Do you remember seeing a friendly Frenchman cycling through Britain's towns with a bunch of pink onions on the handlebars?

The Onion Johnny used to be a familiar sight for Britons in the summertime and they all set out from Roscoff selling their distinctive and eponymous Roscoff onions. The onions even have their own AOC and AOP today.

Inside this museum you can find out all about the history of this unusual trade that existed from the 19th century and still continues (albeit far less popularly) today.

Notre Dame de Croatz Batz

Walk: 23 mins (1.8km)

Drive: 8 mins (2.3km)

Built in the mid-1500s, the ornate Notre Dame de Croatz Batz with its unusual twin bell tower is an instantly recognisable silhouette against the Roscoff skyline.

Financed by shipowners and merchants, it is part of the fabric of the town and an example of the culture and trade that Roscoff was built on. A charming places to while away a few quiet moments.
