The museum is located in part of the Ducal Palace. It contains, among other things, ducal kitchens dating back to the mid-15th century. There is also a substantial collection of European paintings from Roman times through to a modern and contemporary art section, with works by Manet and Monet and sculptures by Matisse and Rodin.
