Built in 2007 and recently extended in 2011, the Mare Nostrum Aquarium is a modern aquarium designed to immerse visitors in a spell-binding aquatic universe. 3,500 animals from 400 different species fill 24 spectacular pools, providing scenes of a variety of underwater landscapes from the tropics to the deep Atlantic.  Popular with tourist and locals alike, the aquarium has a great range of interactive exhibits including multimedia terminals and educational workshops as well as storm and hurricane simulators!
