On a trip to San Sebastián, you cannot miss the chance to admire the incredible Baroque facade of this basilica, presided over by a statue of the martyr, San Sebastian, on Calle Major in the old part of the town. Built between 1743 and 1774 on the foundations of an older church, its main door is positioned in a straight line from the cathedral of Buen Pastor. Inside, is a bright and airy space, as ornately decorated with sculptures as the outside. The main altarpiece, dedicated to the city's saint, the Virgin of the Choir, and a cross-shaped sculpture by renowned sculptor Eduardo Chillida are outstanding features in this very beautiful church.
