L'Hostellerie du Château de Bricquebec, BricquebecL'Hostellerie du Château de Bricquebec, Bricquebec

Here's your chance to stay in a genuine medieval castle that dates back to the 12thC and was once visited by Queen Victoria and her family. This fabulously well-preserved building combines modern comfort with the charm of the past and incorporates a remarkable restaurant which was once the Knights Hall and is authentic in style with stone walls, tapestries and coats of arms. The breakfast room and bar are similarly furnished, whilst the pleasant bedrooms, which are all on the first floor, are individually decorated with simplicity and comfort. Close to Cherbourg, the small quaint market town of Bricquebec has a great Monday morning market, one of the biggest in the region, and is a convenient and interesting place to stay just a short drive from the coast. Guided tours of the castle run 2 afternoons a week in the summer months for those who wish to learn more of its fascinating history.

Restaurant closed 23 Dec-11 Feb and Sun/Mon. Open 31 Dec for dinner.
