FERRY & HOTEL
Hotel Mercure Dinan Port, Dinan
France > Brittany > DINAN
The lovely old town of Dinan has narrow cobbled streets of medieval buildings among its many historical attractions. It has a 13thC château that houses a museum charting the town's long heritage, and it's also the best place to start exploring the defensive walls that are 3k in length and probably the most impressive of any in the region - there is even a festival held each July to honour and celebrate their importance. And if you have the energy, the 158 step climb to the top of the Tour de l'Horloge is well worth it for wonderful views stretching as far as Mont St Michel on a clear day. Dinan is well known for its arts and crafts and is full of artists, sculptors and glass blowers, many of whom display their products at the Thursday morning market or in the little shops that line the steep cobbled street that leads down to the port. Pretty old stone houses line the quay, many of which have been converted into great restaurants or traditional crêperies and across the river just a little further along you can enjoy the delights and comforts of this charming hotel. Attractive, air conditioned rooms all have large beds and shower/wc and there is a heated seasonal pool, small gym and jacuzzi. Snacks are available in the bar and there is a restaurant where you can sit out on the terrace overlooking the water. Family and triple rooms incur a 25€ supplement per night payable direct. Superior rooms, which are more comfortable and have a king size bed and coffee machine, are also available.
Restaurant closed 20 Dec-4 Jan & Sun/Mon.
