FERRY & HOTEL
Hotel Picos de Europa, Arenas de Cabrales
Spain > Asturias > ARENAS DE CABRALES
Arenas, renowned for special pungent blue cheese, marks the gateway to the Picos de Europa mountains and is close to rivers excellent for trout and salmon fishing. The town has its own cheese museum and there is even a competition and festival held on the last Sunday in August which attracts thousands of visitors each year. The Hotel Picos de Europa is well located in the village centre and with its comfortable rooms and lovely outdoor pool (mid May-Sept), is an ideal retreat from today's busy world. It also has a good value for money restaurant where the menu features traditional regional dishes that are popular with the local community. The friendly staff are welcoming and the owners, who speak English, are well versed on walking in this area so are more than happy to supply details - in particular, the Cares Gorge, a well known popular favourite although there are many others too. Its an ideal location to spend a few days whether you are a walking enthusiast or not and many guests return.
Restaurant closed 13 Oct-end of May.
